- Iwate is a Japanese prefecture located in the northern area in mainland Japan. Hitomebore is one of the major Japanese rice variety grown in Japan and the word “Hitomebore” means “love at first sight” in Japanese. It is named as people would fall in love with the rice at first bite. Fertile soil, spring water and huge temperature difference between day and night in Iwate provide the best condition to grow Hitomebore. Iwate Hitomebore Musenmai (Rinse-Free) Rice went through an additional process that removes small bran particles on the grain as a cleaning process, which removes the hassle to wash the rice and reduce water wastage.
